Curriculum

As stated in our mission, our curriculum is developmentally responsive, integrative, and exploratory.  We teach to the Florida state standards and all of our students are assessed using Florida state assessments.

Each grade pair has a unique and developmentally appropriate approach to meeting students' needs. All teachers in all grades take a team approach to supporting students.

Per Seaside School, Inc and the WCSD 2022-23 Student Progression Plan (p 52), please be aware that Advanced Placement (AP), dual enrollment and technical dual enrollment courses are designed for students to earn college credit as well as meet high school graduation requirements. As such, materials and discussions for these courses may reflect topics not typically included in K-12 courses. Due to the dual credit nature of these courses, content and materials used in these courses are not able to be modified to accommodate variations in student age and/or maturity.

Parental Rights & Instructional Materials

THE SEASIDE SCHOOL™ is committed to transparency, academic excellence, and respect for parental rights in accordance with Florida law.

All instructional materials used at THE SEASIDE SCHOOL™ are:

  • Selected by qualified instructional staff and school administrators,
  • Recommended for approval through the School’s Academic Excellence Committee, and
  • Formally approved for adoption by the SEASIDE SCHOOL™ Board of Directors.

Curricula are reviewed annually to ensure alignment with Florida State Standards, instructional effectiveness, and continued relevance to student learning.

Parent Access, Questions, and Choice

Parents are encouraged to review instructional materials and communicate with teachers or school administrators if they have questions or concerns about specific lessons or assignments.

Parents who have concerns about a particular material for their own child may request an alternate assignment aligned to the same learning objectives by contacting the classroom teacher or school principal.

Specific Material Objection Process

Florida law provides parents and county residents the right to formally object to instructional or other materials made available to students.

THE SEASIDE SCHOOL™ follows the state-mandated Specific Material Objection process in accordance with Section 1006.28, Florida Statutes, and Rule 6A-7.0714, Florida Administrative Code.

  • Formal objections must be submitted using the Specific Material Objection Form.
  • Objections are reviewed first at the school level.
  • Decisions may be appealed through the School’s administrative process and, if necessary, reviewed by the SEASIDE SCHOOL™ Board of Directors.
  • Parents and residents will be notified in writing of outcomes.
